Welcome to the world of carbon investment

"Hello,
I invite you to join in the exciting future of carbon forestry investment by purchasing shares now in Onslow Carbon Forest Limited. Onslow is a 370 ha Douglas-fir forest established to sell carbon credits derived from the sequestration of CO2. Forests are an efficient means of mitigating global warming because they absorb CO2 from the atmosphere, store the carbon in the wood and release oxygen back into the atmosphere. Now you can profit from this simple act of nature. The CO2 stored in your trees can be sold as internationally tradable carbon credits known as Assigned Amount Units (AAUs). The most natural investment you can make, Onslow Carbon Forest Limited has a forecast IRR of 9.0% pre tax over the life of the project. Contact us now for a copy of the prospectus and investment statement and be part of this new carbon forest investment.

A Natural Investment

  • The forest is already growing, established in 2003 and 2006.
  • For the first time forest owners have an option to either sell carbon or sell timber or a combination of both.
  • This is the ultimate green investment, important for the future of us all. Carbon forestry is essential for theenvironment as well as highly profitable once you start selling carbon credits
  • Forecast to sequester 859,619 tonnes of CO2 over the life of the project
  • Registered under the Permanent Forest Sink Initiative (PFSI), the forest will earn internationally tradable AAUs
  • You will own a shareholding in a tangible asset, freehold land and a Douglas-fir forest, unencumbered by debt.
  • Covered by comprehensive fire, wind throw and public liability insurance
  • An investment for you, your children and your grandchildren
  • Douglas-fir is a species ideally suited to carbon forestry as it can continue to grow and store CO2 for more than 300 years
  • The forest will produce high grade Douglas-fir timber which commands premium pricing
  • Structured as a Portfolio Investment Entity (PIE) to bring tax benefits to shareholders
  • You can sell or transfer shares on the secondary market operated by Roger Dickie (NZ) Ltd
  • Roger Dickie (NZ) Ltd is an established and reputable company with 84 rural investment properties and more than 2,500 investors

Your investment will be a once only payment of $25,000

For a 1.1% share of Onslow Carbon Forest Limited

Additional shareholding is available in $5,000 increments

Cash returns over the the life of the project are forecast to average $3,300 per annum pretax for a 1.1% (1/90) share in the company. Forecast pretax IRR is 9.0%

The investment assumes a carbon price of $25 per AAU and the forest is forecast to sequester an average of 8,500 AAUs per annum.
With a carbon forest, the owner has the flexibility to choose the best time to harvest.

If log prices are high relative to carbon prices, then harvest can take place and the revenue used to purchase back the carbon credits that have been sold.

This is your opportunity to participate in the global carbon trading market, last year worth US$118 billion and forecast to be US$669 billion by 2013

The Carbon Forest Story

New Zealand is a signatory to the Kyoto Protocol, an international agreement recognising the negative impact of greenhouse gases (GHG), particularly carbon dioxide (CO2) on global warming. One of the objectives of the Kyoto Protocol is the reduction of GHG emissions to 1990 levels by 2012 with further eductions towards 2020.

The New Zealand government has passed legislation that will allow landowners to participate in forest carbon trading. Upon allotment, Onslow Carbon Forest Limited will enter into a forest sink covenant with the Crown under the Permanent Forest Sink (PFSI) legislation. PFSI allows a forest to earn internationally tradable Assigned Amount

Units (AAUs).
1 AAU = one carbon credit = 1 tonne CO2

One tonne of dried of dried wood contains approximately 1.8 tonnes of CO2 ie 1.8 carbon credits.

A mature Douglas-fir plantation can store over 2,000 tonne CO2 per ha, about 6 tonne per tree.

Through photosynthesis, trees store carbon and release oxygen into the atmosphere. Forest soils also store carbon as organic matter. In this way sustainably managed forests become vast carbon sinks.
